Each stone is chosen for its flatness and look.  Stones are very flat and smooth and nice to the touch of your hand or underfoot. Quality is important and every effort is made to ensure the lasting qualities of the materials and also the detail in the design. 

Each mat is a jigsaw puzzle and the ‘perfect’ stone has to be chosen for each gap to ensure the tightest weave possible.  This takes time, a good eye and an attention to detail and perfection.
